What is Orthodontics?

Orthodontics corrects irregularities of the teeth, bite, jaws, and related facial abnormalities to enhance oral health and facial appearance for both children and adults. It is a technologically advanced field, which offers many sophisticated solutions to correct malocclusion and other cosmetic problems.

Benefits of
Orthodontic Treatment

There are many advantages to well-aligned teeth, including better oral hygiene, easier cleaning, clearer speech, and a more pleasant smile. Crooked and crowded teeth are hard to clean and maintain. This can result in tooth decay, gum disease, and even tooth loss. Alignment problems can contribute to the abnormal wear of a tooth’s surface, inefficient chewing function, excessive stress on gum tissue and the bone that supports the teeth, or misalignment of the jaw joints. These can lead to chronic headaches and face or neck pain. Treatment can help prevent these problems, along with giving you a more confident smile.

Orthodontic Treatments

Braces

Braces move the teeth at a slower speed that is optimized for the most comfort and effectiveness. Brackets are bonded to each tooth, and are connected with a steel wire and multicolored bands. The wire and bands are replaced at each appointment.

Invisalign

Invisalign treatment straightens your teeth without the use of traditional metal braces. They are removable retainers that are virtually invisible, and come without the eating restrictions associated with braces. Invisalign is also considered to be much more comfortable than metal braces.

Appliances

Certain treatments may be performed with the aid of a removable appliance. There are a wide variety of appliances that may be used during treatment, such as space maintainers, palate expanders, and retainers. Your doctor will inform you of any appliances that may need to be used during treatment.
