Periodontics
Periodontics is a highly skilled dental specialty involving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease and oral inflammation. They are also extensively trained in the placement of dental implants.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are an excellent restoration option if you are missing a single tooth, multiple teeth, or are looking for a more secure alternative to a denture. An implant is an artificial root made of titanium, to which a fabricated crown, bridge, or denture is attached. Implant placement prevents bone loss and adjacent teeth shifting out of place, allowing the implant to to function like a real tooth.
Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease, also known as periodontitis and gum disease, affects the gum tissue and bone that surrounds your teeth. It is caused when a gum infection called gingivitis is left untreated. Periodontal disease affects the connection points between your teeth and gums, creating pockets between the teeth and gums where more food and bacteria can easily accumulate. This can lead to recessed gum tissue and significant bone loss. When periodontal disease has reached this point, our endodontist can treat the gums to prevent the condition from worsening. This treatment is used in conjunction with frequent deep gum cleanings with one of our hygienists.

Bone Grafting
Bone grafting is a procedure performed to increase the amount of bone in a part of the jaw where excessive bone has been lost or additional support is needed. This is required for patients who are going to receive implants in place of missing teeth or with the occurrence of bone loss due to the effects of gum disease.
Crown Lengthening
A tooth that is broken or cracked below the gums is in danger of not surviving. However, in many cases these types of fracturs can be treated. Crown lengthening allows the gum line to be lowered to gain access to the damaged portion of the tooth, allowing for a restoration which can save the tooth structure.
Gingival Biopsy
A gingival biopsy tests concerning or abnormal gum tissue to help diagnose a variety of oral lesions. The information from the biopsy can be used along with the findings of imaging tests to help your doctor diagnose oral cancer as early as possible. Earlier diagnosis means less scarring from the removal of tumors and a survival rate.
